Hello everyone!
Cheers. As I write I am full of excitement about what is happening early Sunday morning 31 May 2009. The first day of the AIDS Lifecycle down the California coast awaits us. Opening Ceremonies start early Sunday at 6 am at the Cow Palace here in San Francisco. We will remember those great souls that we have lost. We will surely shed tears. We will certainly shout some joyous things and grin about the thought of peddling 585 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles for the next 7 days. There will be old friends, new friends to meet, and Robert in full drag with platform heels on Red Dress Day(Day 5.) Yessss!!!
We are so excited to bring a very special bike to the ride. It is a one-of-a-kind project called the Hero Bike. In tribute to my heroes and the heroes of my family and friends. You are sure to recognize some names. In fact, some of you reading this may recognize some very special entries on the frame. Every one of these people deserves a nod and a mention. My life has been deeply altered by all of them. And yes, Rosie can be found there too. The real Rosie the Riveter that is……Rose Hicker, who lives right here in the Bay Area. Trying to give credit where credit is due.
We will be sending video updates from the ride. Find the links here and on my personal Twitter page at: http://twitter.com/inertiabird. Send your updates and wishes too. I love to hear from you.
I look forward to sharing some great stories and seeing ya’ll on the ride and after the AIDS Lifecycle.
Pedal Fast and Laugh Hard,
Jai
